From the Shadows

Lily Fontaine is bitten by vampire, Angelo Milonne, while at a New Years Turn of the Century Ball. Vallon Paige is the front man in a band called ‘Symphonic Dream’. He plays guitar and sometimes the violin. The other band members call their music ‘gothic metal’ but to Vallon, it is art. He is the man Lily craves, familiar to her, yet mysterious. Lily wants to make him hers for all time. A destructive, and jealous force brought on by Angelo is out to tear them apart. Angelo loves Lily and wants her to love him and no one else.  Lily must find away to protect her mortal lover from the angry vampire who bit her. When she doesn’t return his love, she is afraid her descendants will be Angelo’s new target for vengeance. As a descendant, Jaiclyn Paierce must put her trust in vampire Luca Silva to keep herself and her son safe. Luca is the vampire who gave Angelo eternal life. Lily and Luca must stop history from repeating itself and discover the truth behind the vampires but will that be enough to save the humans they love?

Jae Knight combines vampires, fairies, and demons in From the Shadows.  The readers are taken back and forth through different time periods in order to understand the motivations of the characters. You will find the men handsome and passionate and the women to be strong and brave. It doesn’t take you very long to become involved in their lives. Having New Orleans as a setting for this story with a tattoo parlor and goth band was pure genius. As a reader who loves to read paranormal stories I found this book fantastic! I am looking forward to reading more from Jae Knight.
